To automate the tasks within a chain, each command uses a connector to interact with its data source. When you add a command to a chain, you enter the inputs required to perform its task. Your organization can set up connectors to interact with the Workiva platform and your other data sources.
If no connector is available for your data source, consider:
- If you can export the data as a file, save it to an online directory—such as in a Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) server, Box®, Amazon® S3, or Google Drive®—and then retrieve it through the applicable connector.
- If your data source enables an HTTP application programming interface (API), retrieve the data through the HTTP Request connector.
- Alternatively, if your data source enables an API or integration platform-as-a-service (iPaas), you can develop an integration with the Workiva API.
