With the Workiva Platform, you can work with other workspace members to craft content for Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) or sustainability reporting — such as for annual reports, questionnaires, or regulatory filings — in Documents, Presentations, and Spreadsheets.
Tip: With Documents, you can create highly-designed reporting with floating objects, color palettes, SVG images, and more. To learn more, view Introduction to Designed Reporting in the Workiva platform.
Ensure data integrity through Links
To help report consistent data across outputs, link values from source files such as your Factbook spreadsheet. Linking connects a value from its source and syncs it across all linked files; when the source file publishes an updated value, it automatically flows through to all destination files.
To create a source link:
- In the source file, select the content or cells to link to the destination, then:
- For cells in a table or Spreadsheet, press Ctrl+C or ⌘+C — for Windows or Mac, respectively — on your keyboard.
- For content within a Document, right-click and select Create source link.
- In the destination file, press Ctrl+V or ⌘+V to paste the linked content or cells in place.
- If creating links between source and destination cells, click the clipboard , then select Create links from and apply the appropriate option:
- To link copied source cells that have values, select Cells with values.
- To link all cells that have source links, select Linked cells.
- To link copied source cells that have no values, select All cells.
From the Link properties panel, you can view and manage all source and destination links in a file.

Collaborate through Comments
From the Comments panel, you can leave remarks, feedback, or questions for others as you collaborate on content creation in a Document or Presentation. To address collaborators in a comment, type @
and select the workspace member or group to mention them.
Tip: If someone mentions you in a comment, you receive a notification in the email inbox associated with your Workiva account. These notifications come from notifications@workiva.org
; if you don't see a notification, search your inbox for this From address, or check your Spam or Junk folder.
In the Workiva Platform, you can also view and open all of your mentions from Home.
To learn more, view Comments in Documents.
Coordinate through Tasks
To help keep report creation on track, workspace members can be assigned tasks within a file, such as to create or review content.
From Home, you can view all tasks across your files, including those you created or assigned to you. To complete a task within its file, select the task, then click Go to task in the Details panel.
Tip: The icon next to a task indicates its status — Sent, Returned, Approval, or Complete.
To learn more, view Introduction to tasks.
Review edits through Track changes
With Track changes enabled from the Review toolbar, you can review all edits made to a file.
- Additions appear underlined in blue, with a blue pin.
- Removals are indicated by a red pin.
- Changes are indicated by a purple pin.
From the Track changes panel, you can review the details about each edit — including who made it and the content they added, removed, or changed — and whether to accept the edit.
