To help meet the ever-evolving needs of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) or sustainability reporting, Workiva's Sustainability Reporting solution updates frequently, including these new features and enhancements introduced September 2025.

Simplify European Sustainability Reporting Standards with Workiva AI
To help simplify the complexities of the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), you can use the new ESRS Intelligence knowledge base to ask Workiva AI to summarize and clarify the Standards and their disclosure requirements. If your Sustainability Explorer includes the ESRS, you can also view the source content used by Workiva AI to develop its response.
Note: ESRS Intelligence is available for any Sustainability Reporting Advanced workspace with Workiva AI enabled.

Import items into Sustainability Program
From Sustainability Program, you can now generate Spreadsheet templates to add new items in bulk:
- Tags
- Dimensions
- Topics
- Metrics
- Metric dimensions, tags, or related Explorer content
When you import the completed templates back into the Program, it validates their details and helps resolve any errors before adding the items. To generate templates and import their details, select Program overview in the outline, then select Import from the menu.

View metric values for all collection periods
From a metric in Sustainability Program, you can now select to view values for all collection periods of the Program year. Previously, you could view only one period's values at a time.

Browse to and select source files for metric values
When you connect a metric value to a source file from Sustainability Program, you now browse to and open the source file — similar to in Files — from the value details.
When you complete the connection from the file, you can then hover over a metric value to view its connected source file and section.
Note: Previously, you selected and viewed a value's source file and section separately within the value details.

Pending status for metric values with no tasks
For clarity, values not included in metric tasks now display a status of Pending until complete in Sustainability Program. Previously, these values showed a status of "Not started". To learn more, view Collect metric values for Sustainability Program.
