To help track your company's performance in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) or sustainability factors, you can download Sustainability Dashboard Templates from Workiva Marketplace to your Sustainability Reporting workspace. These templates include:
- A sample Marketplace Dashboard Presentation, with charts, graphs, and tables to help visualize and summarize Program metric data
Note: The charts and tables include default examples of sustainability data you can visualize for internal audiences. Customize the presentation as necessary for your reporting needs.
- Marketplace Spreadsheet Template, where you curate values from your Sustainability Program and provide source links for the Marketplace Dashboard Presentation
Tip: To add the Marketplace Dashboard files to your workspace, select Import, Import Workiva file from the Create menu, and import the tar.gz file downloaded from Workiva Marketplace. When you import the tar.gz file, select to include connections.
Set up Marketplace Spreadsheet Template
In Marketplace Spreadsheet Template, the Source/Query Output section curates data from your Program, which the Dashboard Templates section provides as a source for the Marketplace Dashboard Presentation. To enable accurate performance tracking, set up the spreadsheet.
Step 1. Set up the Dates sheet
In the Dates sheet, specify the period of the Program data to include in the Presentation:
- In Reporting quarter, select which quarter's metric values to include.
- In Period year, enter the reporting year of the Sustainability Program to include.
- In Current year, enter the month and day when each reporting quarter ends.
Step 2. Connect the Data Output and Metric Data sheets to their queries
The Data Output and Metric Data sheets curate data from your Sustainability Program for the Presentation. When you first set up Marketplace Spreadsheet Template, add an incoming connection from the queries that provides Program data for your Factbook Spreadsheet to both sheets.
Tip: Your workspace's queries' names may have changed after implementation. To identify a query's name, refer to the Connections panel of your Factbook Spreadsheet.
Data Output connection
- Select the Data Output sheet.
- Create an incoming connection from the Data toolbar or Connections panel:
- From the Data toolbar, click Add connection, and select Incoming connection, Wdata query.
- From the Connections panel, in Incoming, click Add connection, and select Wdata query.
- Search for select the Program Data Output query connected to your Factbook Spreadsheet.
- In Parameters, select the same year as the Dates sheet, and click Connect.
Metric Data connection
- Select the Metric Data sheet.
- Create an incoming connection from the Data toolbar or Connections panel:
- From the Data toolbar, click Add connection, and select Incoming connection, Wdata query.
- From the Connections panel, in Incoming, click Add connection, and select Wdata query.
- Search for and select the Metric Data Master query connected to your Factbook Spreadsheet.
- In Parameters, select the same year as the Dates sheet, and click Connect.
Step 3. Set up the Dashboard Templates section
The Dashboard Templates section of Dashboard Spreadsheet Template includes reporting tables to provide source links to the Marketplace Dashboard Presentation. These reporting tables indicate the Program metrics and values to include in the Presentation's charts, graphs, and tables.
Note: When you first import Marketplace Spreadsheet Template, the Dashboard Templates section includes sample data to illustrate how to use the presentation's tables and charts.
To specify the data to include in the Presentation's charts, graphs, and tables, customize their reporting tables in the Dashboard Templates section:
- In the Metric ID column, select the IDs of the metrics that have values that apply to the chart, graph, or table.
Tip: To view a metric's ID, select Metric ID from its menu on its topic or the metric itself.
- For each metric, update its dimensions as necessary.
Tip: To identify the relationship between the Spreadsheet's cells and the Presentation's charts, graphs, and tables, refer to the Link Properties panel.
Step 4. Set up the Data Consolidation section
From the Data consolidation section, you can curate granular Program metric data — such as based on a dimension — and then summarize those values, such as for year-over-year analysis.
Note: While the Data consolidation section uses Legal entity as a sample dimension, you can use this section to summarize values across any dimension, depending on your reporting needs.
To summarize your company's data, first set up the reporting tables in the CY Consolidated data section. Each reporting table collects data based on a specific dimension value, such as Legal Entity A or Location: North.
To set up these tables:
- Rename the reporting tables' sheets to reflect the dimension values to summarize.
- From each dimension value's sheet, select the metrics and dimension value to include in its reporting table:
- In Metric ID, select the metrics to include in the summary.
- In Dimension, select the dimension value to curate values for.
Then, from the Data consolidation section, you can view a dimension's summarized data collected for your metrics and their dimension values:
- The PY Consolidated and CY Consolidated sheets summarize the data collected for the previous or current reporting year, respectively, based on the periods set in the Dates sheet.
- The PY vs CY Consolidated sheet enables a year-over-year comparison between the two years, including the variance between them.
Update the Presentation with latest Program data
After you set up the Dashboard Templates files, you can update the Presentation with the latest data from your Sustainability Program:
- From Marketplace Spreadsheet Template, in the Dates sheet, enter the quarter and year of the data to include.
- From the Connections panel, select the incoming connections for the Data Output and Metric Data sheets.
- In Parameters for both connections, select the same year as the Dates sheet, and click Apply & refresh.
- From the Marketplace Dashboards Presentation, click Refresh on the Connections panel.
