Manage metrics in Sustainability Program

To help curate and track values in Sustainability Program, you can manage their data collection through metrics. For example, you can arrange, rename, and delete metrics as necessary.

View a metric's ID

When you add a metric to Sustainability Program, the topic automatically generates a unique ID to identify it. You can likewise use this unique identifier to identify the metric, such as in a Wdata query.

You can view a metric's ID from its menu. To copy the ID for use elsewhere, click Copy to clipboard .

Arrange metrics in a topic

From a topic, you can arrange its metrics within their frequency's group, such as based on your reporting narrative or to prioritize specific metrics. To adjust the position of a metric in the topic, select Move to top, Move up, Move down, or Move to bottom from its menu.

Move a metric to another topic

From the outline in Sustainability Program, you can move a metric from one topic to another, such as if it was added to the wrong topic or if you reorganize its original topic into smaller topics.

You can also change a metric's topic from its current topic:

  1. From the current topic, select Change topic from the metric's menu.

  2. Select the topic to move the metric to, and click Save.

Rename metric

You can edit a metric's name from the metric or its topic:

  • From the metric, double-click its name, and then enter its new name.
  • From the topic, select Rename from the metric's menu, and enter its new name

Delete values from metric

To stop data collection for a metric or its values, you can:

  • Delete a specific metric value or multiple values from specific collection periods, up to a full year.
  • Remove a reporting year from a metric, such as if it no longer applies to your sustainability reporting.
Note: When you delete a value or year, you cancel any data collection tasks and remove any values or supporting material already collected. 

To remove specific values, such as if their data collection is no longer needed:

  1. In Values, select the reporting year and earliest collection period to remove the values from.
  2. Select the values to remove:
    • To remove a specific value, select Delete from its menu. values-delete.png
    • To remove multiple values, select them, then click Edit values and select Delete. values-delete-multiple.png
  3. Select whether to remove the values from the selected collection period, the reporting year, or for the year starting with the selected period.
  4. To confirm, enter DELETE, then click Delete.

To remove a metric from a reporting year, such as if you no longer need to collect its values based on new framework guidance:

  1. In Values, select the reporting year to remove the metric's values from.
  2. From the metric's menu, select Remove year from metric. remove-year-from-metric.png
  3. Click Remove.

Delete metric

Note: When you delete a metric, you delete it completely — including its values and tasks across all reporting years.

If you no longer need a metric, you can delete it from Sustainability Program:

  1. Specify the metric to delete:
    • From the topic, select Delete metric from the metric's menu.
    • From the outline, right-click the metric and select Remove.
  2. Enter DELETE, and click Delete forever.
