    Hi Andrew,

Great question! It's possible to upload a file up to 1GB as an attachment in Documents/Spreadsheets/Presentations; however, only files <50MB will be able to open in the markup viewer.  There is also a limit of 3000 attachments per Workiva file.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi Andrew!

The max size of an attachment for a Document, Spreadsheet or Presentation is 1 GB. The max size to open the attachment in the Markup viewer is 50 MB.

I'll see if we can get this info added to some of our external documentation. Thanks for the question and give us a holler if you need anything else. Happy Friday!

    Hi Mike,

"The max size of an attachment for a Document, Spreadsheet or Presentation is 1 GB" => Is this still correct?

I am trying to upload a .mp4 file of 580MB many times but no success. Thank you in advance!

Thanks for reaching out. Where are you attempting to upload? Attachments support 1GB, but uploading to a Folder within Home, for example, maxes out at 250 MB. Or are you in another part of the platform?

Hi Mike, I'm trying to upload a recording file of 580MB to attach to a word file in Files experience. Is the size support of 1GB applicable in this case?

    Hi Hop Nguyen!

If you are in the Files experience, the limit would likely be 250 MB. In order to attach, you'd need to be within a file (Document or Spreadsheet) itself and then attach the .mp4 to a location in that file. That file could be downloaded to be viewed and it does support up to 1 GB size. Does that make sense?

Let me know what follow-ups you have or if you need anything else. Cheers!

    Hi Mike Davis

Thank you. What about the limit of files attached to a test form (SOx control) in Workiva?

I am showing on my end that the limit is 1 GB for Test Forms, though over 100 MB you might experience some performance/loading issues with those files.

    Hi Mike Davis

Let me come back to you about attachments in Files experience, I was able to upload three .mp4 files of 902.971 KB, 578.250 KB, 462.275 KB respectively to a word file created on Mar 03, 2025 on Workiva Files experience. However, since last week I've been trying to upload a .mp4 file of 580.955 KB and the upload was failed. It seems to me that there's no consitency in how big the size can be... Could you please check?
