This article is for:
- Sustainability Reporting customers with a CDP Questionnaire in Sustainability Explorer
From Sustainability Explorer, you can create a CDP Questionnaire to collaborate on your submission to CDP — formerly Carbon Disclosure Project — with other workspace members. As you work in a Questionnaire, Workiva Support can export its drafted responses to a Document file for further collaboration.
For example, with this Document:
- Enable a holistic review of responses before you update your CDP submission.
- Review changes as responses evolve in the CDP Questionnaire.
- Automate responses' edits or approvals from the Processes or Tasks panel.
Step 1. Request export
Before you contact Workiva Support, prepare the details needed to export responses from your CDP Questionnaire:
- In your Sustainability Reporting workspace, create a new Document.
-
From Security in Workspace settings, create an API grant to used for only the CDP export; at a minimum, the grant requires file:write and file:read scopes.
Note: Only Organization Admins or Workspace Owners can create API grants in Workspace settings.
-
In the Document, enter the API grant's client ID and secret.
Note: The user associated with the grant can view its client ID and generate its secret from Security in My profile.
- From Sustainability Explorer, open the CDP Questionnaire to export responses from.
- Copy the Questionnaire's full URL from your browser's address bar, and paste it into the Document.
-
Verify the Document includes the API grant's client ID and secret and the CDP Questionnaire's URL.
Note: Set the Document's Permissions to restrict its access to only those who need the grant's client ID and secret.
When ready to export the Questionnaire's responses, submit your request through the Workiva Support Portal. Include a subject line of CDP export to Doc request, and provide the URL to the Document in your message.
Note: It may take up to four business days to fulfill your request. Thanks for your patience!
Step 2. Review exported responses
The export creates a timestamped CDP response export Document, which:
- Includes a section for each module of the Questionnaire
- Provides a snapshot of the responses and statuses (if set) of the modules' questions at the time of the export— not a dynamic connection to the Questionnaire
- Excludes questions without either a response or status
Note: By default, only the user associated with the API grant can view the Document. To enable other workspace members' access to the Document, set its Permissions.
From this Document, manage and review the responses as necessary:
- Compare multiple exported Documents — with different timestamps — to track the evolution of responses.
- Create tasks or set up a Process to assign workspace members to revise or approve responses.
- Send the Document for review to enable stakeholder feedback before you submit responses through the CDP Portal.
