CDP — formerly Carbon Disclosure Project — is a nonprofit organization that scores organizations on an annual basis based on their environmental transparency and action.
From your Sustainability Reporting workspace, you can craft your responses to each question of your company's specific CDP questionnaire, in collaboration with other workspace members.
Tip: To learn how to enable the questionnaire in your workspace, view Set up CDP questionnaire for Sustainability Reporting workspace.
Navigate the questionnaire
To access a question within the questionnaire:
- From Sustainability Explorer, click Open questionnaire in CDP Questionnaire.
- Open the question's module:
- From Overview, click the module's name.
- From another module, select the one to open from the name of the current module.
- From Overview, click the module's name.
- From the module, scroll to the question, or select it from Go to question.
Tip: To help ease navigation and protect sensitive data, a Questionnaire Owner can set workspace members' permissions to each module.
Enter responses to questions
In the CDP portal, you submit each question's responses as rows of a table; from your Sustainability Reporting workspace, you instead craft each response in the respective field within its question.
Tip: As you enter a question's response, it automatically saves to the questionnaire in your workspace. When ready, you can then update your CDP submission with the responses, directly from the questionnaire.
Note: As you enter responses, other responses may no longer apply and display a lock ; these responses may not appear in your CDP submission.
- If a question requires multiple responses based on various contexts, select the applicable context by its respective table row, from Go to row.
-
For some questions, add or delete rows as necessary to capture responses.
Note: For responses that require attachments or requesting members, respond directly through the CDP portal.
To view how a question's responses will appear as a table in the CDP portal, click Preview table.
- To return to the question from the preview, click Close .
- To return to a specific row, such as to edit its response, click Go to row entry .
When responses are ready, click Update CDP submission from Overview to update your questionnaire in the CDP portal. To learn more, view Prepare CDP submission from Sustainability Reporting workspace.
Review guidance from CDP
To view CDP's guidance alongside a question, click Question guidance.
From the Guidance panel, you can view:
- The full question, including clarification of its terminology and intent
- How to respond to each part of the question, including the available options or any character limits
- Criteria used to score the question's responses
- Any tags, such as for environmental issue or sector
- Related content from other frameworks or questionnaires
Tip: To view guidance in Sustainability Explorer instead of the Guidance panel, click Open in Explorer.
View related Program metrics
To help ease responses, you can align CDP questions with metrics that collect related values in Sustainability Program, from either the Program or Sustainability Explorer. As you draft responses, Related metrics appears when a question aligns with metrics, which you can click to view the metrics and other Explorer content they align with from the Related metrics panel.
Tip: You can click the name of a related metric or its content to open in Sustainability Program or Sustainability Explorer, respectively. For example, you can open a related metric to copy and paste its value into a response.
Use Comments to collaborate
As you collaborate on responses, you can discuss questions with other workspace members from the Comments panel.
For example, use comment threads to:
- Iterate on and fine-tune responses collaboratively before entering in the questionnaire.
- Identify open questions or gaps in data collection, and mark as resolved when complete.
- Note where required attachments can be found for final submission through the CDP portal.
From the Comments panel, you can add, respond to, and manage comment threads as necessary.
- To track the status of a comment — In progress, Needs review, or Done — apply a color-coded label.
- To hide a completed comment, select Resolve comment from its menu.
- To permanently remove a comment, select Delete comment from its menu.
-
To restrict a comment to specific collaborators, select Apply permissions from its menu, and choose the members who can view and respond.
Note: Collaborators can view comments within only the modules they have permissions to view. To learn more, view Set permissions for CDP questionnaire in Sustainability Reporting workspace.
- To share a link to a comment, select Copy link from its menu.
To learn more about Comments, view Comments in files.
Set status of question
To help track the progress of a question's responses, you can select its applicable status.
| Status | Description |
|---|---|
| In progress |
The question's responses are started but aren't yet ready for review. Note: Unlike in the CDP Portal, the questionnaire does not automatically set a status of In progress when you begin to enter a response. |
| Answered |
The question's responses are ready for review, such as by a subject-matter expert. Note: If you update your CDP submission with a question that has a status of Answered but includes unanswered responses — such as for attachments or tabular responses — the CDP Portal sets its status as In progress. |
| Reviewed | The question's responses are approved and ready for submission to CDP. |
| Not responding |
Your company opts to skip the question and omit its responses from your CDP submission. Note: If you submit a question with a status of Not responding, CDP leaves it unscored, like when you skip a response in the CDP Portal. |
Tip: To revert a question to a status of Unanswered, select Clear status.
When you include a question in your CDP submission, its status also updates accordingly in the CDP Portal.
