You may wish to create multiple layouts for your slides. Each layout is for a different purpose. One layout might be for your introduction. Another layout could be for informational slides. Another layout could be for a conclusion. Layouts can also vary the look of your content at key points.
You can switch between layouts at any point in a Presentation. If you change a slide layout, all slides based on that slide layout are updated.

Manage unused slide layouts
Unused slide layouts can accumulate as you edit and duplicate slides. Removing layouts that are no longer used can improve presentation performance and make it easier to manage layouts.
When unused layouts are detected, Workiva displays an inline alert in the presentation’s slide outline. From this alert, you can review and remove unused layouts.
Review unused slide layouts
You can open the Layout slides view to see which layouts are currently unused.
- In the presentation outline, review the inline alert that indicates unused layouts were detected.
- Click Review and delete.
- The Layout slides panel opens and displays all layouts.
- Layouts marked (unused) are not currently applied to any slides.
Delete unused slide layouts
After reviewing layouts, you can remove all unused layouts at once. Removing unused layouts doesn’t affect slides currently in use. Depending on your permissions and whether any slides are locked, you may have access to delete only some unused layouts.
- In the Layout slides view, click Delete all unused layouts.
- Review the confirmation message.
- Click Delete to remove all unused layouts.
Note: Deleting unused layouts can’t be undone.
All layouts marked as unused are removed from the presentation.
