Workiva AI harnesses the power of artificial intelligence to spark new ideas and boost productivity across your organization. The global chat tool is available at all times in the toolbar at the top of your site, while a growing number of deeply-embedded "companion" tools can now integrate directly with your documents and spreadsheets.
But no matter how it's used, you can always rest assured that your data will stay safe and secure and never leave the Workiva platform.
Requirements
- Workiva AI is available to any customer who has signed the Workiva AI Terms of Use. Once approved, Workiva AI is enabled by default for the entirety of the organization, including all existing and newly added workspaces and users.
- Org Admins can manage this enablement by restricting Workiva AI to specific workspaces and users or disabling it for the entire organization.
- Workiva AI is fully encrypted and never trained on Workiva content or customer data. Learn more: Workiva's approach to AI
The Workiva AI chat
You can launch the Workiva AI chat from anywhere in the Workiva platform, or from the Workiva Mobile app.
This allows you to:
- Ask Workiva AI for general knowledge, writing assistance, or for file-specific insights about your data and documents.
- Use the prompt advisor to get help with common tasks, or discover new ways to use Workiva AI with your other solutions such as GRC, Financial Reporting, or Sustainability.
- Select the knowledge base that most closely matches your question and receive responses more closely tailored to your topic of interest. For instance, select Workiva Support Intelligence to search the Workiva Support Center for questions about your software.

The Workiva AI companion for Documents and Spreadsheets
The Workiva AI companion integrates directly with the right-hand panel in Documents and Spreadsheets. This allows Workiva AI to intelligently guide your work on a specific file without the need to open a separate chat window.
With companion:
- Workiva AI is context-aware, meaning it has a persistent connection to your current file and can be directly referenced in all chat conversations.
- Workiva AI offers inline editing that can intelligently modify existing content.
- Workiva AI can insert new content directly into the file while maintaining existing styles and formatting.

Use quick edits in documents to improve existing content
Quick edits allow you to select a range of existing content in your document and improve it with AI-powered suggestions. We provide a number of pre-filled prompts for you — such as "shorten" or "rephrase" this content — but you can also enter your own requests for Workiva AI. Your response will then display in the intelligent companion on the right side of your screen.

The inline editor for spreadsheets
When stumped by writer's block, simply select a spreadsheet cell and ask Workiva AI to generate some content from scratch. You can also select existing content and ask your AI assistant for suggestions on how to improve it.

Analyze and summarize tables
Workiva AI can summarize and analyze tables in your documents and spreadsheets. Select an entire table and Workiva AI will generate a simple narrative from your most complex data, or select just a few cells to perform analysis on a subset of your data.

Workiva AI can unlock new insights into your data and documents by intelligently referencing specific files in your workspace. This allows you to quickly summarize files, extract data, create new content based on what already exists, and more!

Analyze filings with SEC Filing Intelligence
Workiva AI's SEC Filing Intelligence unlocks new insights by analyzing and comparing your filings against industry peers. Just open the Intelligent Finance panel from any document in your workspace, add filters to find a range of filings, and then ask Workiva AI for help analyzing your findings.
