With Workiva's Sustainability Reporting solution, you can collect responses to submit to S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA), an annual evaluation of companies' sustainability practices. By responding to the CSA, you can:
- Benchmark your company's performance on industry-specific economic, environmental, and social topics.
- Provide a comprehensive assessment of your initiatives to sustainability-conscious investors and stakeholders.
- Leverage the expertise, methodology, and database of Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) for your own internal processes and external communication.
Step 1. Include CSA in Sustainability Explorer
To include content from the CSA in Sustainability Explorer, select 2025 CSA or All frameworks in Frameworks from the Properties panel.
Note: To enable CSA content, you may need to agree to Workiva's Third Party Terms of Use for material licensed from S&P Global Inc. For details, contact your Workiva Customer Success Manager (CSM).
Note: Sustainability Explorer only represents the questions for the year's assessment, which you respond to through CSA portal. Any responses you select for CSA content within Sustainability Explorer are temporary and reset when your browser refreshes.
When you include the CSA's questions, you can:
- Search and browse their content.
- Connect questions to Program metrics they align with.
- Add comments to questions to capture their responses and discussions with collaborators as you refine them.
Note: Since Sustainability Explorer includes all questions possible, its questions' numbers may differ from the numbering in the CSA portal, which displays only the questions applicable to your company's industry and other criteria. When you submit responses to the CSA, identify the corresponding questions by their content, not their numbering.
Step 2. Collect responses to questions
To help curate and track data collection, set up a metric in Sustainability Program for each question's response.
-
In Related Explorer content, connect the CSA question that the metric aligns with.
Tip: For assistance updating metrics connected to CSA 2024 content to 2025, contact your Workiva CSM.
- In Metric assignment, select who will prepare and approve the response, set due dates, and provide instructions on how to respond.
After you set up a metric, click Send tasks to notify the assignee and approver. You can track the response's data collection from the metric or its Program or topic.
Step 3. Submit responses to the CSA
Note: To submit responses through the CSA portal, first register with S&P Global. When you register, you also get access to your company's past CSA scorecards.
Tip: To help identify metric values related to CSA questions, use the Program as a query source.
When your responses are ready, copy them from Sustainability Program or your Factbook spreadsheet, and submit them through the CSA portal.
Tip: S&P Global recommends Google Chrome® browser for the CSA portal.
