Yes, for sure you can in next gen. To do so, you just need to select the chunk of text you want to apply the section's page numbers to and then click Insert > Auto Text > Section Page Number...

The table of contents in my document is set up as a table. I do not get the insert auto text option. I see only excel spreadsheet option to insert a line above or below.

The option for auto-text is not available from a right-click option. To add this to your table of contents, first click on the value you want to apply the section page number to, and then from the Insert menu, select Auto Text and Section Page Number, like so:

Another follow-up, is it possible for the pages to say "6-10" if a section covers from pages 6 through 10?

Was not able to follow those instructions. Too succint. Ended up calling the help desk. May be it helps others, but it was useless for me.

Hi Mike- I was wondering if there was a way to link page numbers from the Table of Contents to other documents? We are looking to automate the page number references between two different earnings documents, but when i copy paste a link it just says #sectionpagenumber. Hopefully you can help! Thanks.

Sadly today you are not able to create an auto-text reference to another document, or link that value across (as you found).
