Cross References in Documents
AnsweredIn a document how can I insert a cross reference to another table reference, or the page on which a table is located.
So for example I may wish to say in one part of a document "For more detailed information in relation to regional sales activity please refer to tables X, Y and Z on pages 99 to 100"
How can these links be set so that, should the table references and page numbers, change these references will update automatically?

Great news! A recent release has pushed out the option to insert a Section Page Number directly into the text of your document. This is found under the Insert menu in the Edit tab:
Note that this feature inserts the first page of the section chosen.
Hopefully ya'll make some good use out of this new feature. Let us know what you think, and if you have any questions. Thanks for your patience and keep stayin' great!
Hi Conor,
Thanks for reaching out and welcome to the Community! At this time, you can insert a hyperlink to the section that contains the supplemental information, but we cannot pinpoint the link to direct them to a specific page, just the first page of a given section. I have passed you feedback along to our Product Team and will let you know if anything changes. In the meantime, please feel free to reach out with any other questions or feedback you may have. Anyone passing by is encouraged to vote up/comment on this request!
Thanks!
0Hi Paige - I've just found this thread and this is something I'd also like to do but with reference to a page number only. Is this still not possible if I just want to return one page number that the ref is linked to?
0Hi Ben!
I can confirm that this is currently not available yet, but the good news is a page number auto-text option is planned for this quarter. I'll get your request connected so you can stay apprised, but we'll certainly update this post too one it is released.
Let me know what questions you have and if you need anything else. Thanks and chat soon!
0Hi Mike,
Please add me to the list to be alerted when the feature arrives!. This would really be helpful!
Thank you!
0It's a deal, Yumiko!
0Mike - Thanks for the update on this. It's great news. Very timely for us here in the UK.
Can I also be really picky... :) Is there anyway we can get the closing page number of a section too?
Thanks
Ben
0hey Mike,
Can we use this feature across workiva documents Since I want to reference a page # of a section from another document within workiva (same workspace)
0Hi Shreya!
This functionality is only accessible in the same file, but I'm happy to share this suggestion with our product team.
0Mike,
I now have an instance where the ability to link page number between documents or documents and presentations would be helpful.
