Breadcrumbs for file locations?
回答済みIs there a way to see which folder a document is in when using the search folder to find specific docs? There are times when I need to know the file location and searching does not provide that folder location, etc. This makes organizing files, etc. more difficult than it should be. Breadcrumbs would be nice.

Great news! Breadcrumbs are back! Hansel and Gretel approve.
Thanks all for your patience along the way. Do let us know if you have any additional feedback or have any questions. All the best and happy Monday, friends!
Hi Rebecca,
When utilizing the search feature, you can check the box next to the search to enable the file path. This will show which folder the file has come from at the bottom of the screen.
Thanks!
0Hi Gerry,
Could you show where the check box is in the search box? I can't find it when using the search bar.
Thanks!
0Hi Gerry, I was just going to write and tell you I don't have a checkbox either and Dani beat me to it!
Rebecca
0My apologies, the checkbox should be next to the file name. Here is an example:
0Is there any way we can bring this feature back? It seemed to have disappeared after one of the more recent updates. I am DESPERATELY trying to find a file that my Files search results says exists -- I have scoured through nearly all the folders I have access to and cannot find it. I click the checkbox next to the file in the search results and it no longer gives me the breadcrumb trail, though it did at one point a while back. I am absolutely beyond baffled and have wasted quite a bit of my work time trying to find this file. I cannot just make a copy of this file and not know where the original one is....
2Hi Chelsea Rayfield I have set up an idea ticket with this request. We appreciate your feeback.
Best,
Isaac
0Strongly agree to have this feature back, otherwise, it is quite difficult to organise the folders where there are lots of folders, subfolders and files.
1Hello everyone,
I have good news! Our implementation team is working on bringing this back with the goal of it being done by the end of 2023. That is tentative but we will keep you in the loop with any progress/updates.
Thanks!
0Since we approach the end of the year, what is the latest update on implementation?
0Hi Michel!
Thanks for keeping us honest here. I circled back to check for sure and there's been a slight delay on reimplementing the breadcrumbs feature and its now scheduled for early Q1 2024. We'll be sure to keep you apprised here and will let you know as soon as this does roll out.
Thanks again and give us a holler if there are any questions. Cheers!
0Hi! Any chance the breadcrumb feature has been reimplemented yet? Know it is only 10 days into 2024 :) If not, any suggestions on how to locate a file that doesn't involve just clicking into folders?
0Hi Whitney!
Sadly, breadcrumbs has not quite yet been re-added but soon.
Lemme ask our experts on any workarounds they might have in the interim.
0Quick update.
File path, aka breadcrumbs, has been slightly pushed back and is now planned for early Q2 2024. We appreciate your patience as we work to get this added back. Let us know if you have any questions for us or need anything else.
Thanks!
0Hi there, just wanted to check if this had been implemented and if so, how to access the file path.
Thanks!
0Hi Jo!
Sadly its not yet re-implemented. It is still planned and should be soon. We'll be sure to keep this post updated on that progress. Thanks for checking in and let us know if you have any follow-ups. Cheers!
0Any updates on this feature?
0Hi Damian!
Thanks for reaching out. I have it on good authority that this should be coming very soon, likely next week. We'll be sure to update you here too. Thanks again and give us a holler if you have any additional questions. Cheers!
0Hi Mike, I cannot figure out how to use the breadcrumbs feature. When I'm in a file, I cannot see anything that shows me where the file is located. Can you please explain?
3+1 on Linda. would be great if the breadcrumbs would also show when in a file, not just in the files view.
2Hi Linda!
Happy to clarify here. The breadcrumbs re-release only shows the location in the Files menu of Home (see example)
The ability to see where the file is located from the file itself is not yet available, but we do have some requests for that enhancement. I am happy to get you and added to that. Thanks for chiming in on that.
Let me know if you have any follow-ups or need anything else. Happy Friday in the meantime!
1Mike Davis - we're also interested in seeing breadcrumbs within files.
1I am also interested in this feature. Transitioning users to use this platform is challenging without features like this to help guide them.
0Yes, Mike Davis, an update on this would be great. I searched for a file and found it, but I could not figure out what folder it was in. The search feature worked great to find the file and open it, but the breadcrumbs feature is really needed to figure out where the file is actually located.
0Hi Linda!
Thanks for chiming in here. Happy to add you to this feature but also wanted to call out what you CAN see from search results.
First, thanks for the kind words on search. There have been some improvements there to make it much more intelligent. As part of that pop-up search window too is a slightly hidden but present breadcrumb.
The breadcrumb location of the files in the search results is shown here in grey. If there are 3 dots in row, you can click to expand to see the full location.
If you search from the Files menu and check the box next to file (or even just check a file without searching) the breadcrumb becomes visible.
Just wanted to call those two items out. That said, happy to add you to this request for sure. Do let me know if you have any follow-ups for me. Cheers!
0Hi Mike Davis,
Breadcrumbs have saved me when searching for a file in a forest of files!
That said, your search window looks different than mine. How do we access the "pop-up search window" shown in your screenshot? It looks different than the one in our workspace. Yours looks like it sits top left and ours sits top right - next to the move to trash icon.
The way I get search to show the breadcrumb trail is to enter a search term (e.g. "impact") and then click the "all results for..." link. The link opens a screen with all of the results and related checkboxes. Any checkbox I select then reveals the breadcrumb trail.0Michael Sanchez my first search window is using Intelligent Search. This is found in the top right, next to your Workspace icon, Help, and profile.
That said, Intelligent Search was released just last month, so we are eager to hear your feedback on it.
0Thanks Mike Davis, we don't yet have that activated in our workspace, but looking forward to checking out when released.
