Copying projects and organizing content in Wdesk
回答済みI am not an administrator, but I like to organize the folders/projects in neat way. Also, if I already upload all needed documents to a project (which serve as a binder I guess), why the documents are still showing in the same folder holding the related project? How to organize things by folder\project\documents in project binder? I don't like many orphan documents in certain folder holding projects, while those documents are also in the project. Talked to Haley Miller today, but not fixed completely.
Thanks.

As an update here, copying content in Home is limited, by default, to Workspace Owners. However, there is a setting to allow all users to perform a copy. This setting can enabled per request.
In addition, Projects are part of our Classic environment which will no longer be available after December 2020. You are able to transition projects into next gen Folders if needed. Note that transitions is also only available for Workspace Owners by default but can similarly be allowed for all users, per request. For more info, consult this Transition Classic Files and Projects article on our Help site. Thanks much and have a great day!
Hi Bing!
First, regarding the ability to copy a project for non-admins, as of yet this feature is not currently available. I'll continue to provide updates as I get more info going forward.
Regarding your second question, what you are seeing in your folder is expected behavior. All of the content that you have moved to any given folder will appear. So a project and the files within it will all appear in the folder. This is because while projects can be used as a repository, i.e. binder, of sorts, they are still themselves a separate file in Wdesk.
If you are wanting to organize further, you can create sub-folders within the folder to house specific groupings of files, both documents, and projects alike. This will at least prevent documents from appearing orphaned in your Wdesk Home view. Does that make sense?
Hopefully this was of some help. Let me know if you have questions on any of the above. Thanks for your contributions to the Community! I look forward to chatting with your more.
Take care in the meantime and have a great day!0Mike,
Thank you so much for quick response! I should have told you that my administrator made the copies. I guess she rolled forwarded projects each time using "copy project" after this function was available in WDesk. In a personal computer, we can see the file size and path/address through file properties, Any similar function in WDesk? I cannot find. If a folder housing 1 big project is neatly binded, with all supporting documents inside the binder, but not showing themselves until I open the project panel, where are those documents? Are they saved in the primary file folder?
Thanks.

0No problem, Bing. Happy to help!
In Wdesk Home, you'd need to move both the project and its contents to a folder, i.e. they don't move together. It can be confusing since the project holds the files in it, but not, in the same manner a folder does in Wdesk. This is because project have historically been used for SEC filing purposes mostly.
To answer where the documents are that you are looking for--the ones within the project but not in the folder--these can be found within the All Files filter in Home. One thing you could do is have the project panel open so you see the document names, then from the Wdesk Home you can find the files and move them to the correct folder location. Does that make sense?
Let me know what questions you have or if you need anything else. Thanks much and talk to you soon. Cheers!0Thanks Mike! Very helpful information I got from your group in this two days! 0サインインしてコメントを残してください。
