Now Available: Assignable Boards in Home
固定された投稿🎺Introducing assignable boards in Home
Have you ever wished that you could guide your team members to exactly what they need in the Workiva platform? Well, we’re thrilled to announce that, in workspaces with access to Boards in Home, Workspace Owners can now create and assign boards to curate the Home experience for their teams, all while still allowing individual power users to organize their own work the way they want.
Along with creating and assigning boards, Workspace Owners can also set a board as the primary board (the first thing users will see when they log in). This allows Workspace Owners to guide users straight to their work within the platform and tailor their Home experience to company, persona, and user-specific needs and processes. Workspace Owners can make updates to assigned boards as team processes or user needs evolve, or as new widgets or features become available. For more information, see Create, assign, and manage boards in Home
Users who are not Workspace Owners still have the ability to create and configure their own boards to meet their needs and align with how they work best. They can switch between assigned boards and their created boards and set their own primary board. For more information, see Use boards in Home.

Additional changes
In addition to the new assignable boards, note the following changes:
-
Navigation and button organization improvements:
a. The dropdown menu is now next to the board name so users can more easily switch between boards.
b. The board management options is now a consolidated menu. - Board templates (as they exist today) are being retired. These templates have been changed to assignable boards, and Workspace Owners can choose to assign these to users and groups within their workspace. A big benefit of assignable boards as opposed to templates is the ability to update these boards for the assigned users.
- Board background color customization is being retired. All boards will now have the same background color so we can align with Workiva’s accessibility goals.
- A Workiva-provided “Default Board” is now available for all users. This ensures that all users have a starting point for their Home experience. Users can either leverage this directly or can copy the board to make their own configuration changes.
Please note that this feature was rolled out progressively to accounts with Boards in Home enabled, so some accounts may have seen it sooner than others.

Hi Soren Jensen! Thank you for your feedback. The Dashboard Experience is primarily used to bring together charts and tables from your GRC reports into one centralized place. In Home Boards, you can bring together charts and tables from your GRC reports in addition to other platform information, for example, information about tasks or comments. The goal of Home Boards is to help orient users to the work that needs to be done in the platform when they first log in or navigate back Home. At this time, we do not plan to bring this assignment functionality to the Dashboard Experience but we will note that feedback and follow up if that changes. If you have specific questions about when to leverage one over the other, I recommend working with your CSM who will have better recommendation for your specific account/use case.
As a workspace owner the new feature is great, but it feels like the new functionality does not really work with the Dashboard Experience/ Menu. What is the intended best practice of maintaining dashboards in the Experience/ Menu versus just maintaining a Dashboard on the home page and then assign this to the intended user base?
0Hi Ruby Blau! Great product, and excited to get started on using this in my workspaces! I did have one question. Will changes made to boards that have already been assigned need to be reassigned to reflect the most recent changes? Or will updates to assigned boards update upon saving? Thank you!
0Hi Jack Nelson! Thank you for the feedback and I'm glad to hear you're enjoying using the product! The changes that you, as a Workspace Owner, make in Edit Mode will be pushed through/reflected for assigned users once you click save, there is no need to re-assign (unless you'd like to add additional groups/users). Users viewing assigned boards will need to refresh to see the most recent changes.
There are a few small caveats here, including that some of our older widgets (namely, Comments and Tasks) have certain modifications that are not pushed to assigned users (this includes sorting and adding/hiding columns on those widgets). This is not the case with the newer widgets and we aim to eventually bring those older widgets in line with the newer model.
