Can Workiva Task Assignees and Approvers Take Action on Metrics in Sustainability Program using Secure Email Link to Workiva Tasks WITHOUT Logging Into Workiva Platform?
Hello - we are new to using the Sustainability Program, and we have many data owners and data approvers who will need to take action on a metric, either to enter a metric value, or review/approve/return a metric value. We thought we could use Workiva Tasks to avoid many users and approvers having to login to the Workiva platform (they only take action 1x/year; some are Executives; we don't have SSO so users have to remember a username and PW; etc.). We thought they could use the "Go to Task" link in the email notification they receive and be directed straight to Workiva Tasks, where they could securely enter or approve only the metric assigned to them. This article in Support (Complete tasks in Workiva Tasks – Support Center) states "To access a task without needing to sign in, Org Workspace Admins or Org Security Admins can allow email link authentication in the Workspace Settings", which we have done. Yet in our testing we cannot avoid the login prompt, and we've received several different answers from Workiva technical support on this topic so we are trying all the avenues we can to try to clarify. Does anyone using Workiva Tasks in the Sustainability Program have any insight on this? Thanks very much in advance!

Erica Irvine Apologies, upon further clarification, while — as the article you link to mentions — the Workiva Tasks portal enables workspace members to access their tasks without a sign-in via their email links, tasks created from Sustainability Program do. This is to ensure assignees and approvers have appropriate access to items connected to their tasks, such as related Explorer content.
If direct access to Sustainability tasks in Workiva Tasks without the login is something you — or others, please chime in — would like, please let us know.
Thanks, and apologies again for the confusion!
Hi Erica! If you've enabled email link authentication for the same workspace as the Program, then the assignees and approvers to access their tasks in the Workiva Tasks portal directly from the email notifications.
Just to confirm (and as a heads up to others), if the tasks' values are connected to a source file — like the Data Collection Spreadsheet — then the tasks are completed through that source file in the workspace instead of the Workiva Tasks portal, and would require the sign-in.
