Do Spreadsheets have the TODAY formula or something similar to automatically update dates?
Completed-
+1 on this feature as a lot of my customers have been inquiring
0I see this request for 6+ years. It's still not available :(
1Does it usually take 6 years to build requested functionality? seems like a lengthy dev process
1Hi Vikram Goyal & Tom Brown - I have added you both to this feature request. The more people that comment/express interest in a feature, the more likely it is to become developed as a priority. I would encourage anyone passing by that is interested in having this formula added, to please comment to get added for updates to have this enhancement idea gain some more traction!
Thank you!
0I would also like to be included in this request. Without this functionality there is no way to create formulas to determine if something is overdue or coming up on a due date within a spreadsheet. I would have hoped that over the years this would have been determined as a value add for all customers since Excel came out with the formula in 2007.
0Any update to this? Or a workaround for how we can handle this? Trying to add conditional formatting to identify when things are overdue based on the calendar date.
1Hi James Babendir,
This is under future consideration with our product teams but there's no concrete plan at this point in time as we're currently prioritizing AI integration features.
I've added you to the existing feature request to keep you appraised of any updates.
In the meantime, I did come across a few workaround to share!
1. Use a Chain (if you have the Data Management Suite):If users have the Data Management Suite (DMS), a chain can be configured to write today's date into a specific cell automatically. This is the most robust workaround. You can work with your Customer Success Manager or Solutions Architect to get this set it up.2. Use a Sub-Sheet Connection (for =NOW() equivalent)A query can be set up to connect to a sub-sheet and refresh the connection to mimic the =NOW() function, then reference it via formula in the target cell.3. Use a Date Input Cell (manual workaround)For simpler cases, replace the dynamic date reference with a manual date input cell that updates as needed. This is a non-automated workaround but avoids formula errors.
0Hello. May I be added to this feature request as well?
