Chains
FIPS mode for connectors
Chains now offers an organization-wide option to force connectors to use FIPS 140-3 validated cryptography, thereby making the connection compliant with U.S. FedRAMP and Canadian Centre for Cyber Security (CCCS) requirements.
- Who can enable this and where: This setting can only be changed by Chains Organization Administrators by clicking the Profile icon and selecting Organization admin > General tab > Execution> FIPS mode.
- Disabled by default: FIPS mode is disabled by default, and changing its status does not require editing or republishing any chains.
- Applies immediately: The change affects every command that hasn’t started yet, including later commands in a chain that’s already running.
- Global application: When enabled, it forces all connectors in all chains in the organization to use FIPS 140-3 validated cryptography (if available) for the connection.
- Confirmation when enabling: You’ll be asked to confirm enablement before FIPS mode is enabled. Commands will fail at runtime if a connected system doesn’t support FIPS.
- No fallback to standard builds: If a connector command has no FIPS build for the Ground or Cloud runner’s platform, the command fails with an explanatory message. It never runs the standard build instead.
- Identifying FIPS builds: The command output header includes the FIPS builds, for example “(FIPS) 2.7.45”.
- Audit Log: FIPS mode enabling/disabling is recorded in the Audit logs (accessible by Workiva Organization Administrators by clicking the Profile icon and selecting Admin > Organization admin > Activities > Audit logs). The entry shows who made the change, when, and from which IP address. An entry is only written when the value actually changes. If the entry can’t be saved, the setting change is rolled back.

Sustainability
Streamlined Program overview menu, including new Export activities
In the Sustainability Program, Program overview now features a streamlined menu, which includes Find, Replace, and Permissions — all previously on the toolbar — and new Export activities.
From Export activities, you can download a comma-separated values (CSV) file with details about activities performed in the Program — including the creation, updates, and deletion of topics, metrics, values, and tasks — for a specified date range, starting October 19, 2026.
To learn more, see this Workiva Support page: Export member activities from Sustainability Program.
Workiva AI
Google Gemini Model Upgrade
The version of Google Gemini used by the Workiva AI experience has been upgraded to Gemini Flash 3.5. Users should experience no impact to their usage of Workiva AI, though responses leveraging Google Gemini may appear faster and at a higher quality.
