Linking Overlay display
We've introduced a new overlay display for links, giving you a better way to identify link types across your files. Previously, links relied solely on small triangle indicators to differentiate sources, destinations, disconnected links, overridden destination links, and smart source links, and these could be difficult to distinguish at a glance.
With this update, a new Overlay option lets you clearly view link types directly in your document. Source links, smart source links, and destination links each receive a distinct overlay color so that you can quickly scan and identify link types without opening the link details panel.
This is available in Document text and tables, as well as in Spreadsheets and Presentations.
To view the link types, use the following steps:
- Select the View toolbar.
-
Click the Show overlays icon in the toolbar.
- Select Linking from the overlay category dropdown at the right side of the Workiva window.
This displays a panel identifying the various types of links and their associated colors.
Presentations
AI Companion is now available in Presentations
The Workiva AI Companion is now available in Presentations, offering faster, more intuitive ways to draft, edit, and understand your presentation content directly within your workflow. This includes Quick Edits, chart recognition, and the ability to read images and shapes — giving users AI assistance without leaving the presentation editor.
To launch the Companion, click the AI Companion icon in the toolbar.
Sustainability
Explore 2026 Corporate Sustainability Assessment
If your Sustainability Explorer includes S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA), you can now explore the content for 2026.
With this content, you can help prepare responses for your 2026 submission:
- Browse questions, and bookmark as necessary for reference throughout the workspace.
- Use Comments to discuss questions and guidance with collaborators.
- Connect questions to related metrics in Sustainability Program to enable data collection.
Note: Sustainability Explorer only represents the questions for the assessment, which you respond to through CSA portal. Any responses you select for CSA content within Sustainability Explorer are temporary and reset when your browser refreshes.
To learn more, see this Workiva Support page: Respond to S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment.
Draft disclosures for revised ESRS with Sustainability Disclosure Agent
If your Sustainability Reporting workspace has both Workiva AI and the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) enabled, you can now use the Sustainability Disclosure Agent to prepare disclosures for the revised ESRS adopted by the European Commission in July 2026.
From your report's Document, highlight the disclosure's content, then select Draft disclosure from Quick edits. Based on the specified disclosure requirements (DRs) of the revised ESRS, the Agent responds with:
- Compliance scorecard, to assess how well the highlighted content meets the DRs
- Action items, to help resolve any gaps identified by the scorecard
- Referenced guidance, to specify mandatory requirements used to determine the scorecard, and application requirements and additional guidance used to verify gaps
- Disclosure narrative, with an updated draft of the content, tailored to the DRs
Workiva AI responses are provided for general information purposes only and do not — and are not intended to — constitute legal, accounting, tax, investment, compliance, or other professional advice and services. Responses contain AI-generated content and are provided "as is"; no representations are made that the content is error-free or up-to-date.

Update double-materiality assessment templates for revised ESRS
If your workspace includes double-materiality assessment (DMA) templates for the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) — as implemented for the Delegated Act of 2023 or updated for the draft simplified Standards — you can now request Spreadsheet templates from your Workiva Customer Success Manager (CSM) to update your DMA templates with the new topics and disclosure requirements (DRs) of the revised ESRS.
You can choose to either:
- Import the new topics and DRs into your DMA templates, to start fresh with the revised ESRS.
- Update your DMA templates to retain their current topics and map them to the new topics.
To help determine which template to request, or to help ensure proper implementation, your CSM can set up a consultation meeting.
To help identify gaps for material topics and add Sustainability Program metrics to enable their data collection, you can also request a new ESRS Gap Assessment template, updated for the revised ESRS.
To learn more, see this Workiva Support page: Update DMA Templates for Simplified European Sustainability Reporting Standards.
Move comments to new CDP Questionnaire for disclosure cycle
From Sustainability Explorer, you can create a CDP Questionnaire for a reporting year that already has a Questionnaire, such as to update your questions with revisions from CDP. When you create a new Questionnaire for the same year as another Questionnaire, you can now choose whether to move the comments from the current Questionnaire to the new one, to help ease continued collaboration on responses. If you move comments, they appear only in the new Questionnaire, and no longer appear in the previous Questionnaire.
