The Comments dashboard in Home gives you a centralized view of every comment thread you have access to across your workspace. Instead of navigating into individual files to track feedback, you can monitor comment status, filter and sort threads, and reply or resolve comments, all from one place.
To learn more about comments, view Comments in files.
Note: Workiva is rolling out the Comments Dashboard incrementally to eligible workspaces. The incremental rollout is expected to be completed on November 2, 2026. Workiva may extend the rollout for this feature at its discretion.
Requirements
To use the Comments dashboard, you need:
- Access to at least one file in your workspace with comments
- Viewer or higher permissions on any file whose comments you want to see
View your comments
The Comments dashboard is available from the Comments tab in Home. Each row in the table represents the root comment of a thread. Select any row to open the comment panel and view the full thread.
The table includes the following columns by default:
- Comment: a preview of the root comment and a reply count, if replies exist
- Label: the label applied to the comment
- Status: Open or Resolved
- Resolved by: the user who resolved the comment (resolved comments only)
- Resolved: the date the comment was resolved (resolved comments only)
- Location: the file where the comment lives. Select the link to go directly to the thread
- Sub-location: the section, slide, or sheet where the comment is located
- Author: the user who created the root comment
- Participants: users who have replied to or been @mentioned in the thread
- Created: the date the comment was created
- Updated: the date the comment was last modified
Customize your columns
You can control which columns appear and in what order. Select Columns to choose which columns to show and drag them to reorder. Your selections persist between sessions.
Filter and sort comments
Select Filters to narrow the table by any available column. You can filter on:
- Author (individual users or groups)
- Comment content (exact text match)
- Date created (date range)
- Date modified (date range)
- Location
- Sub-location
- Label
- Status (Open or Resolved)
- Resolved by (users or groups)
Filters use AND logic across columns and OR logic within a column. For example, filtering by Author "Jane Doe" and Location "Annual Report" returns only threads in that file authored by Jane Doe. Filters persist between sessions.
Use charts to analyze comments
Select Show charts to display visualizations above the table.
Three charts are available:
- Comment status: shows the count of open versus resolved comments
- Comments by label: shows the distribution of comment labels
- Open comments age: shows how long open comments have been active, grouped by age range
Charts update dynamically when filters are applied. You can also select a chart segment to add it as a filter. For example, selecting a label in the Label status chart filters the table to show only comments with that label.
Select Show charts again to collapse the charts.
Work with individual comments
Select a row to open the comment panel. From the panel, you can:
- Read the full thread
- Reply to the thread
- Change the comment label
- Resolve or reopen the comment
- Expand or collapse the thread
- Delete the comment (if you have permission)
Only one thread can be open in the panel at a time.
Export comments
Select Export to download the current table as a .csv file. The export reflects any filters currently applied.
Things to know
- Unread comments show an unread badge. The badge clears when you open the comment in the panel from Home.
- Label changes take effect immediately and are visible to all users on the root comment.
