To help ease report creation in Corporate Regulatory Reporting, you can import a source file to automatically enter data into the respective fields of your forms — without the time or effort of manual data entry.
Note: Before you import a source file, a Workspace Owner must first set up its source data mapping to define how its data maps to reports' form fields. To learn more, view Set up Corporate Regulatory Reporting.
Import source data
To help automate data collection, you can import source data — such as from your Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system — as a Workiva Spreadsheet, Wdata Query, or comma-separated values (CSV) file.
Note: Imported data populates the fields of your forms as-is. Perform any transformation of the source data – such as to convert date formats or round large amounts to thousands — before you import.
- From Corporate Regulatory Reporting, select Source data.
- Click Source data import.
- Select the source data mapping to use with the import.
- In Source name, enter the data's source system, such as Workday® or SAP®.
- In Source description, enter a description of the source file, such as to identify its source system, export date, and report.
- To rename the file, enter its name in File name.
- Select the source file to import, then click Next:
- If a Spreadsheet, select Workiva sheet, then browse to the Spreadsheet and select its sheet to import.
- If a Query, select Workiva Query, then search for or select the Query, and click Import.
- If a CSV file, select Upload CSV, then drag and drop it from your desktop or network or click Browse files to search for or select it.
- Review the mappings between the source data and the report's form fields. For any unmapped data, select its corresponding field.
- After you map all source data to its respective field, click Save.
Update report with new source data
If a report has newly imported source data, you can easily update its form with the new responses.
- From Corporate Regulatory Reporting, select Reports, then expand the report's type.
- From the form's menu, select Refresh data.
Export source data
To download an imported source file, such as for review outside of Workiva:
- From Corporate Regulatory Reporting, select Source data.
- From the source data's menu, select Export source data.
- Verify the files that will download, then click Continue and OK.
Edit source data details
You can edit source data's name or description as necessary.
Tip: When you edit source data, you can also view its applicable reports.
Note: To edit the source data mapping or other details, delete the imported file and then reimport.
- From Corporate Regulatory Reporting, select Source data.
- From the source data's menu, select Edit source data.
- Edit the source data's details or view its reports as necessary, then click Save.
Delete source data
To remove inaccurate or outdated source data, delete its file.
Note: You can delete source data only if not used by a report. Before you delete source data, first remove it from any reports' details. To learn more, view Manage reports with Corporate Regulatory Reporting.
- From Corporate Regulatory Reporting, select Source data.
- From the source data's menu, select Delete source data, then click OK.
