You can add custom borders, cell colors, and styling to the cells in your embedded tables.
Add cell borders
To add borders to a cell or set of cells:
- Select cell(s) to which you would like to add borders.
- From the Edit toolbar, open the Borders dropdown.
- Select where you want the border to appear. Use the options at the bottom of the panel to change the border’s color, style, and width.
If you’d like to remove your borders, click the Clear Borders option in the menu.
Align cell content
You can align content to the top, middle, or bottom of a cell.
To change your content’s alignment:
- Select your cell(s).
- From the Edit toolbar, click Vertical Align.
- Select Top, Middle, or Bottom Align to adjust your content.
Fill cells
You can fill cells with color using the Background Color tool or the Alternate Row Fill option.
To add color to cells:
- Select your cell(s).
- From the Edit toolbar, open the Background Color dropdown.
- Select a color to fill your cells. To input a custom color, enter a HEX number or RGB code, or you can import your own colors.
If you’d like to alternate the fill color in each row, you can use the Alternate Row Fill option.
To add an alternate row fill:
- Select your table.
- Open the Properties panel on the right toolbar.
- From the Table Properties tab, check Alternate Row Fill.
- To change the colors, use the dropdown to select a preset option or create a custom format.
If you’d like to automatically style cells based on the cell’s content, you can use conditional formatting.
Add leader dots
You can add leader dots to your table to visually break up content. Leader dots are commonly used when creating a Table of Contents.
To add leader dots to your table:
- Select your table.
- Open the Properties panel in the right toolbar.
- From the Formats panel, go to Advanced Options.
- Open the Leader dropdown and select spacing for your leader dots.
Adjust first line or hanging indents
Using the ruler bar, you can add a first line or hanging indent to the content in your table cells.
To add a first line indent:
- Double click a cell. Click the column header to select an entire column.
- From the ruler bar, click and drag the top triangle to create the first line indent.
To add or adjust a hanging indent:
- Single-click a cell. Hold SHIFT to select multiple cells.
- From the ruler bar, click and drag the bottom triangle to create the hanging indent.
