Multiple people can use the same query, such as to explore its connected data for their own needs. To provide appropriate access to the query and its data, the query's Owner can assign permissions to each collaborator:
- Viewers can access the query's results, but not the underlying query definition. They can run the query, save a copy of the query, export its results, and create views based on the query. Viewers can also view the query when connected to a sheet in Spreadsheets.
- Editors can, in addition to Viewer access, manage the query in the Builder or SQL Editor, such as to update the columns, filters, parameters, and SQL syntax that define its data.
- Owners have full access to the query. In addition to the Editor access, Owners can edit the query's name and description, assign permissions to its collaborators, and delete it if necessary.
Note: To add a source column to a query, the collaborator needs at least Viewer access to the column's table.
Assign permissions
All collaborators need permission to access the query. If you're an Owner of the workspace or query, you can click Permissions in the query to manage its permissions.
For each collaborator, you can view whether they're an Owner, Editor, or Viewer.
- To view only collaborators with specific permissions, click Filters , and select whether to view Owners, Editors, or Viewers.
- To find a specific person, such as to add them as a collaborator, search for them by name.
To remove permission from a collaborator, hover over their name, and click Remove .
