Improved comments panel
A number of improvements have been made to the comments panel:
- The unread filter makes it significantly simpler to identify new comments.
- Quick filters provide a convenient way to view my comments.
- Locating comments within the comments panel in documents is easier because they are organized in read order by default, rather than by the most recent.
- Document comments are less cluttered since only margin comments are visible when the comments panel is closed.
The changes to this panel apply to all experiences, including Documents, Presentations, Spreadsheets, XBRL, etc.
ESG
ESG Program metric dimensional values can be applied to selected periods
When configuring dimensional values for an ESG Program metric, you can now choose whether to collect the values for only the selected collection period, the entire reporting year, or for the year starting with the period. Previously, updates to a metric's dimensional values automatically applied to the year starting with the selected collection period.

Generative AI
Improved File Selector Positioning in Global Generative AI Chat
The file selection pop-over in the Global Generative AI Chat now consistently displays above the user's input area, preventing prompts from being obscured. This improvement prevents prompts from being hidden by the file selector, enhancing user experience and productivity. This improvement applies when using the "@" mention functionality and when adding files via the "Select Files" button.
User-Level access to Generative AI
You can now choose to enable Generative AI by individual users.
- This capability unblocks data-privacy sensitive customers who are desire access to Workiva Generative AI but require their users to complete training or certification ahead of gaining access to AI-enabled technologies. Previously, any user in a Generative AI enabled workspace could utilize Generative AI.
- Org Admins can now toggle a setting on the Generative AI Configuration page to “Enable User-Level Access”. This allows only users with the “Generative AI User” organization role to use Generative AI (in workspaces with Generative AI enabled).
To get started:
- Open Organization Admin for your account, or contact an Org Admin if you are not one.
- Navigate to Overview > Configuration > Generative AI > Choose User-Level Access
- If you want to enable Generative AI by user, change this setting to "Only Users with 'Generative AI User' organization role".
- Click Save.
- Navigate to the People page in Organization Admin and assign the "Generative AI User" organization role to any user you wish to have access to Generative AI in workspaces where Workiva Generative AI has been enabled.
At any time, you can switch the setting back to "All Users". The original role assignments are retained for future scenarios where using the user-level access is preferred, eliminating rework on reassigning previously assigned users.

Update existing reviews without creating a new review
You can now update existing reviews with the latest content revisions without creating a new review. This streamlines the review process for documents, presentations, spreadsheets, and binders, enabling seamless updates to content while maintaining the same review URL to ensure the reviewer is always looking at the most current version of the review. Updates permit optional notifications to reviewers.
Note: This action will only be available to document owners/creators of the review.
