Workiva offers features to support filing in German XML. To take advantage of these features, you will need to apply a German XML profile to your document.
Import a document
From the Create menu, import the template for your filing document and open it.
Click the XBRL/XML tab in the toolbar, then enable XBRL/XML and the Profile window should open. If this window doesn't open, you can also open it by clicking the Profile field in the toolbar.
In the Manage Profile window, you can select a profile using the German XML taxonomy if one exists, otherwise you will need to create one.
Create a profile
Click Create New Profile, then enter a name for the profile and choose German XML as the taxonomy. Click Continue to begin creating the profile.
You will need to enter certain data across 3 simple steps to create your German XML profile.
- On the first step, enter a title for the report and optionally a subtitle.
- On the second step, enter the company name and main address.
- On the third step, you will need to assign XML tags to any heading or paragraph styles found in your document. Only tags available in the drop-down may be applied.
- On the fourth step, you can choose some options for how tables may be adjusted to meet regulator restrictions, such as automatically splitting tables with more than 7 columns.
After mapping your document styles, you can complete the profile setup. You can also optionally view the German XML Checklist to learn about some next steps you take in preparing your document.
