To help include Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) data in financial or other non-sustainability disclosures, Workspace Owners can use Query to share data collected in Sustainability Program with another workspace that also has Wdata, tailored to that workspace's needs.
Note: If your company has a Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) workspace, you can share a Program with its members so they can create GRC Connections for data assurance. Those members can view only names and descriptions of the Program's metrics, not any values.
Step 1. Assign optional Run remote queries role
By default, only certain members can run a query shared with their workspace:
- Owners of the destination workspace
- Members who are also an Owner of the Program in the Sustainability Reporting workspace
To enable additional members of the destination workspace to run a query shared from another workspace, an Owner of the destination workspace can assign the Run remote queries role to at least one member from Workspace settings.
Step 2. Create query with Program data
From the Sustainability Reporting workspace, create a query that includes the Program as a source:
- From the query's Sources panel, click New source, select Sustainability, Sustainability program, and choose the Program with the data to share.
- Select only the columns needed from the Program, and select Add to Fields.
For example, based on your needs, you may want to include:- Program name
- Program year
- Metric name
- Value, as —text or —number
-
Create the query as necessary.
Tip: To further tailor the data to the other workspace's needs, create filters to include specific metrics and values based on details such as reporting year and period, custom tags or dimensions, or frameworks added as Related Explorer content.
Step 3. Share the query
To enable another workspace's members to use the query results, an Owner of the Sustainability Reporting workspace can share the query with the other workspace.
- From Wdata Home, select Share from the query's menu.
- Select the workspace to share the query with.
- If applicable, in Settings, select which workspace member with the Run remote queries role to associate with the query's runs.
- Click Apply changes.
