Moving an existing bookmark without losing references

I have a question regarding bookmarks in Workiva.
As far as I understand, an existing bookmark cannot be moved to a different position. For example, if I want to include the preceding line in an existing bookmark, I would have to delete the current bookmark and create a new one at the desired position.
The problem is that the existing bookmark may already be used for page references throughout the report. If I delete it, these references are lost because the original bookmark no longer exists.
It would be great if there would be a way to change or extend the position/range of an existing bookmark without deleting it, so that all existing references to the bookmark are preserved.

Unfortunately, Workiva does not currently support moving or extending the range of an existing bookmark without deleting and recreating it.
There is no native way to change the position or extend the range of an existing bookmark in-place. The platform only supports:
- Renaming a bookmark
- Filtering bookmarks in the Document Bookmarks panel
- Hyperlinking to a bookmark
- Repositioning/extending a bookmark without deletion
To minimize reference loss, I recommend the following workaround:1. Note all hyperlinks and page references that point to the existing bookmark before making any changes.
2. Create the new bookmark at the desired (expanded) position — give it a temporary, different name.
3. Update all existing references (hyperlinks, Auto Text bookmark page numbers) throughout the report to point to the new bookmark.
4. Delete the old bookmark only after all references have been migrated.
5. Rename the new bookmark to match the original name if needed for consistency.
Important Note on Document Health Check
If a bookmark is deleted before references are updated, Workiva's Document Health Check will flag a "Verified Page Number Reference Issue", alerting you to broken references — so use it as a safety net during the final review.0请先登录再写评论。
