How can I keep the links to source data when I use a template?
I'm working on creating an entity document that has several links to source data (from a Workiva spreadsheet) and that can be later saved as a template. The idea would be to use such template for different entities that would pull information from the same source spreadsheet. However, when I save the document as a template, I lose all the links. Is there an intermediate step I have to do to preserve all the links or I should just make copies of the document instead of saving it as a template to preserve the links? In the template guidance I read the following: Only inline content will appear in documents that use a template. Thus, links, permissions, attachments, and comments will not be copied.

Hello again, Alma!
Great question. As you point out, when saving a template, the dialogue box does mention that links are not supported in the template. We do have a request for links in templates, which I am happy to add you to that as well. That being said, as a workaround today to preserve links, a copy would be preferable in this case as opposed to a template.
0Hi Mike - Yes, please. If you could add me to such request it would be great. I think the ideal template would allow to keep consistency across documents that need to be replicated x number of times while preserving the links to source data to facilitate updates. I'll use for now a copy of a document and lock the sections that need to be consistent. Thanks!
