Blacklines Between Documents
已完成We need a good way to run blacklines between documents that are not available in the history. For example, we provide our Board a blackline of Q2 current year to Q2 of the prior year. The only way for us currently to run a blackline is to download the documents to word and then run a blackline. Unfortunately, the word document truncates some of the numbers, words, etc.

Agree! Also it would be nice to be able to compare by section, for example, running a blackline for a 10-Q MD&A compared to a 10-K MD&A, or selecting only certain footnotes to compare when you have annual footnotes that are not part of interim filings.

Hi all!
Wanted to let you know that it is possible now to run a blackline against two separate documents. I do have two caveats here:
- This is only available for next gen, and;
- Currently this is a setting that can be enabled per request
If interested, let me know and I'll get that going on our end. In the meantime, thanks for your patience and feedback and happy blacklining!

So, I feel a bit sheepish here...but I pulled the trigger a bit early in my previous message about blacklines between two next gen documents being available. At this time, its not yet released and only available internally. We do expect it to be released soon, but just not yet. My apologies if I got you over-excited and rarin' to go with next gen blacklines. Rest assured we'll let you know just as soon as this is ready. My comment from 6 months ago is still [mostly] valid. Currently this is not yet generally available, but you CAN request it have the beta feature enabled, with approval. We do anticipate general availability this quarter, but in the meantime I've connected your request for this feature here and am also happy to get the ball rolling on beta access too, if you'd like.

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. One further question - does it matter if one of the documents is classic and one is next gen? That is our current situation so if it won't work across versions, then we won't need the beta access and will just wait until the feature is released to everyone.

Hi Jeff, as a workaround to blackline between next gen and classic, I transitioned my prior year classic files to NG so that I could try the blackline between projects functionality. I'm trying it out now and I noticed some areas that might not be working correctly but I'm still reviewing.
