    Hi Nicole P.

Yes, you can override the default colors assigned to authors in the overlay by using the file colors feature. File colors allow you to customize a shared set of colors in your document, presentation, or spreadsheet. Here’s how you can manage file colors:

    1. Import File Colors:

      • Open a color picker in your file.
      • Select the file colors dropdown and choose "Import".
      • Download the import template to get a .txt file with formatting guidelines.
      • Add one hex or RGB value per line or separate the values by a comma within the .txt file template (up to 64 colors).
      • Select "Browse" to choose the .txt file you want to import.
      • Choose to replace all existing colors or add only new colors to the existing colors.
      • Click "Import".
    2. Export File Colors:

      • Open the color picker in your file.
      • Select the file colors dropdown and choose "Export".
      • The exported .txt file containing the existing file colors can be imported into other files.
    3. Clear File Colors:

      • Open a color picker in your file.
      • Select the file colors dropdown and choose "Clear".
      • Confirm you want to clear the file colors by selecting "Clear".
    4. Use File Colors in Style Guides:

      • Under the edit tab, select "Styles" and choose "Edit Style Guide".
      • Create a new style or select an existing style.
      • In the style editor panel, select the color picker next to font color.
      • In the file colors dropdown, select "Export", "Import", or "Clear" to update the available file colors for this style.
      • Choose a color from the color picker.

By following these steps, you can customize and manage the colors used in your document, including overriding the default colors assigned to authors in the overlay.

Please let me know if this works for you! Thank you & have a great day! :)
