Feature Request – Time Format (Hours and Minutes) in Spreadsheets Workiva
I am experiencing an issue with time formatting in spreadsheet cells within the platform. Currently, Workiva interprets decimal numbers in base 10, which affects calculations involving hours and minutes.
Identified Issue:
- When I enter values like
3:35
(representing 3 hours and 35 minutes) and3:3
0 (3 hours and 30 minutes), the system treats them as decimal numbers (3.35
and3.30
) instead of a base 60 time format (hours and minutes). - This causes errors when summing time periods, as Workiva does not correctly convert minutes when they exceed 60.
Suggested Solution:
It would be extremely helpful to include a time (hours and minutes) cell formatting option within the "Value Formatting" section, allowing users to configure cells to correctly interpret values in the hh:mm
format.
I have attached a screenshot illustrating the issue. This enhancement would help eliminate the need for manual formulas to convert decimal values into real-time durations.
Thank you for your attention, and I look forward to your response regarding the feasibility of this suggestion.
