Editing tasks dependencies - Starting two tasks simultaneously when the prior one is finalised
BesvaratIs there anyway I can use the existing process functions to structure a set of activities where:
- the next person can begin work once the preparer is done,
- but formal approval still needs to happen afterward,
- and only some later activities truly depend on that approval.
In summary, I've been trying to built something like the picture below, but have been quite unsuccessful in finding a way two start two tasks right after the prior one was finalised:
Task A (Prepare)
├──> Task B (Approve)
└──> Task C (Next work can begin)
When I asked Workiva AI, it suggest me heading the settings section and doing this; "Find the Start, When action starts, or Dependencies/Predecessors section." However, I can't see to have this feature enabled?

Great question Victor Fontenele!
Your desired workflow (Task A → triggers both Task B and Task C simultaneously) is not natively supported with automatic branching logic in Workiva Processes today.
What Processes currently supports:- All at once — all actions start the moment the process is kicked off
- One at a time — strictly sequential; each action waits for the previous to finish
- Manual — the process manager manually starts each action in any order they chooseFor your use case, I recommend using the Manual trigger — this is the most flexible option:1. Set the process to Manual start order
2. When Task A (Prepare) is complete, the process manager manually starts both Task B (Approve) and Task C (Next work) at the same time
3. For later actions that truly depend on Task B's approval, the process manager waits for Task B to complete before manually triggering thoseThis isn't fully automated, but it gives you full control over the branching sequence without restructuring everything. One note I'd like to add is that the start order cannot be changed once a process has been started, so make sure to set Manual before running it.0Du måste logga in om du vill lämna en kommentar.
