Create Login.gov account before enrolling in EDGAR next?
BesvaratHi this is a simple question, probably asked over and over again. I have never had a Login.gov account. Should I and others in the company who file with the SEC and will probably have admin/technical roles in EDGAR Next create individual login.gov accounts first (in advance of enrolling Company etc)?
Thanks.

Hi Barbara,
I'm a fellow Workiva customer preparing our company for EDGAR Next (EN). I’ve identified our likely EN users and had them create individual accounts—an essential first step.
Important: All users must create their accounts only through the SEC’s Filer Management platform:
🔗 https://www.filermanagement.edgarfiling.sec.gov/ - this platform will connect you directly to your individual EN platform
Do not use https://www.login.gov, which is a general federal login portal for services like USAJOBS, TSA PreCheck, Global Entry, and IRS access. It will not connect you to the correct EDGAR platform. You cannot enroll any CIK without first having your individual account set up, so it’s best to complete this well ahead of the September deadline.
Additionally, identify all external parties involved—filing agents, law firms, third-party vendors, and Section 16 filers. Each CIK can only be enrolled once by a single individual, so coordination is key. You don’t want to inadvertently block another party from making a filing.
Lastly, while EDGAR Next will support multiple roles, only one person can serve as the 'point of contact' for each CIK.
Some of my colleagues were able to create accounts on their own. I had a few 'open hour' video calls set up to walk others through the process. Please encourage your team to select more than two forms of multifactor authentication (multiple phone numbers for both calls and/or text, authenticator app, stored backup codes etc.) because if you do not have access to your backup methods, the resolution is time consuming and sure to ruin your afternoon if you can't find someone else you make your filing. Note that login.gov does not have the ability to unlock your account or bypass 2FA for you.
Good luck with your transition!
