Yes, the delegation process to Workiva is an optional, but highly recommended approach even if you intend to primarily use your own tokens.  Workiva will provide a one-click option to initiate the delegation, but you will be required to provide a valid administrator User Token in order to complete this process.  So delegating in advance of an emergency is prudent.
