Getting Started with Chains Guide - New and Updated Training!
PrzypięteIf you’re looking to automate bringing data into Workiva from third-party systems, then Chains is here to help! Make sure you loop in the administrator for your third-party systems. You’re gonna need their help when it comes to setting up integrations.
Recommended Training
Data from third-party systems is often stored in Wdata. Wdata has larger table limitations than spreadsheets, and allows users to write queries that can filter data for a reporting period or further refine it. If you’re new to Wdata, then you should consider taking these courses first:
Data Management: Using Wdata (20 minutes)
SQL for Business Users: Cracking the Wdata Code (27 minutes)
If you already have Wdata experience, then you can go straight to our Chains training! These courses will teach you how to navigate chains, set them up in your workspace, and start building them on your own:
Orientation to Chains (6 minutes)
Introduction to Workiva APIs (15 minutes)
Setting Up Chains in Workspaces (13 minutes)
Building Chains (20 minutes)
Making Chains Dynamic (32 minutes)
If the data you're moving into Workiva needs to be modified or transformed from the source data, then consider using Data Prep in your chains. Data Prep is Workiva's data transformation tool.
Orientation to Data Prep (10 minutes)
Cleaning Data with Data Prep (20 minutes)
