Hello, i´m trying to import an Excel file but there is an error. What is the maximum size allowed for importing an excel file?

    Is the limit still 16MB? I have imported an Excel file that is 4.3MB and it is not converted to a Workiva spreadsheet, it stays as an Excel spreadsheet and I cannot link it. 

    Can you please help me :)

    Welcome to the Community. The short answer is yes, the max for XLSX imports is 16 MB. That said, our engineers are actively looking into expanding that limit. I'd be happy to add you as a requestor there and keep you apprised.

    Hi Lisa!

    You betcha. Here are the max import file sizes for each file type in Workiva:

    Import File Size Limits

    • - Documents (.DOCX) — 32 MB
    • - Presentations (.PPTX) — 32 MB
    • - Spreadsheets (.XLSX) — 16 MB
    These limits apply when uploading or importing Microsoft Office files into the Workiva platform. If you need to bring in larger spreadsheet data, Wdata is recommended as it can handle bigger datasets.

    And just to confirm, the max size of an attachment is 100MB (e.g.: when attaching a file to a test form or audit form)

    And in regards to the attachment limit, its a bit of a yes / no. The 100 MB limit relates specifically for opening an attachment in the evidence viewer, not the upload limit itself. Upload limits for attachments is actually 500 MB. 

    Other Notes:
    - Population files (for random sampling): max 10 MB, up to 50,000 rows
    - Sample evidence files: recommended under 100 MB
    - Local File Sync & Office Online do not support files over 100 MB
    - Attachment zip exports should not exceed 4 GB
