Hi Michelle Reinfurt! Thank you for your question! I asked our experts and this is not possible at this time. But there is an idea ticket out there already, so I'll spin up a ticket for you so you can get updates on this idea!

Can you provide the idea ticket number or direct to where it can be found.

Is it possible to answer a question that has radio buttons and still give an open text response?

    Hi Jamila Walton

I've got you linked up to Michelle's idea!

To answer your second questions, yes this is possible using the Exception feature in certification letter questions.

    • When setting up a question in a certification letter, you can mark one or more response options as an Exception
    • When a signer selects an option flagged as an Exception, they are required to provide a written explanation
    • If the signer chooses a response that is not an exception, adding an explanation is optional
    Workaround for Open-Ended Questions:
If you want to essentially force an open text response for a specific radio button selection, you can:
    1. Add a question to the letter with a single response option (or the relevant option)
    2. Mark that response option as an Exception
    3. The assignee will then be required to select that option and provide a written response
    Additional Notes:
    • Signers can also upload files to support their written explanation when an exception is triggered
    • The explanation and any uploaded files are visible in the Certification responses report
