Processes - turning assignees and approvers to viewers after submission
PlanlagtIs there a way to remove the functionally or disable the move to "viewer" feature of when an assignee turns a process task to Submit - ready for approvers. The document becomes View only to the assignee and the approvers. We need the approvers and the assignee to continue to have the capability to be owners or editors of the document.
In our work environment, approvers have to be able to modify the documents, same as the assignee throughout the entire process. We can't use your "Review" feature, because it does not allow modifications, we also can't use your "Binder" or "markup" features, because everything turns to read only. Reviewers have to be able to make modifications as they review and the original assignee has to retain their permission as well. Most reviewers don't want to send comments to fix a comma, to change a sentence. They want to the capability to make that change themselves as they read something. I understand this feature for SEC work, but not for those of us using it for general use.
Note, that it's highly inefficient to go into the documents after each assignee submits their task to turn everyone's permissions back to owners, making that not a reasonable workaround.

Hi Stacey!
Thanks for bringing this up. I feel ya on this one as it happens to me quite a bit too. At this time we don't support customizing the permissions in content request action types but I will bring this request up to our product team and keep you apprised here.
Our recommendation to avoid this with the current functionality is to instead use a basic Task action type if you prefer to not have the system manage permissions. The basic Task action will provide all the same functionality without any of the permission changing that a Content request provides. Let me know if you have any questions regarding those steps or need anything further.
Thanks again and happy Friday!
0Hi everyone! Good news is that this is now on the future roadmap.
Thank you all for the feedback!
0This is related on the ESG side to the use of Workiva Tasks for metric data collection, and enabling an option to allow an approver to not only review/approve, but also modify, the provided metric value (with the same full audit trail, of course).
0Hi everyone! Any news on the topic?
We currently encouraged a similar case dealing with the process-related permissions. Where there are two content request actions assigned for the same person the same spreadsheet and if one of the action is completed, the permission changes from editor to viewer, despite the second content request action for the same spreadsheet is still active. We learnt that this currently is expected behavior, however, it heavily affect permissions, requiring manual changes to change permissions. I'd be best to keep the permissions as long as any of the content request is active. Thanks!0This remains under future consideration however, it has not bene picked up for work yet. Happy to add you to the request in the meantime :)
