Best practice for us is simply highlighting the text you would like to link across documents; right click and select "create source" link; and simply [Copy+Pasting] where you would like the destination text to reside. Reminder, the "source" text will be the only location the text can be updated.

    Hi there,

I have tried this option, but it didn't work. Also would it be an option that you can copy one document with all source links to another. I could break the source links for the sections I want to adjust. This saves a lot in the manual copy and pasting. Hope you can help me out! Thank you!

Hi! I tried the "create source" link option and it worked but I'm trying to copy/create a link for a big chunk of the page and it creates multiple links that is not easy to navigate in the source section...is there a way to create 1 link with all the paragraphs I want to replicate in another section/page? Thank you!

Great news — this thread has some helpful additions since the original replies! A few things worth knowing:

The core method still works: Highlight text → right-click → Create Source Link → copy & paste to destination. All edits remain at the source only.

    New options now available:
    - Multi-paragraph / large blocks: Use paragraph source links (value format = "Text") or Content Placeholders for narrative that spans multiple paragraphs — these keep everything as a single linked block and avoid the page-break splitting issue mentioned below
    - New paragraph falling outside the link range: This is a known limitation. Always extend the source link to include any newly added paragraphs, or make additions directly within the source
    - Cross-Document Convert to Source (new): Right-click any destination link → Link options → Convert to source — no need to recreate links from scratch
    - Merge Source Links (new): Copy one source link, paste over another, and confirm merge to consolidate into a single source
    - XBRL consideration: If numeric values inside a paragraph need XBRL tagging, linking the entire paragraph isn't possible — use multiple smaller links or placeholders instead
