Over the past 11+ years of usage, Wdesk has evolved into a critical enterprise platform at Wells Fargo, with broad adoption across multiple lines of business and regulatory functions. Its use spans SEC Reporting, stress testing, bank regulatory reporting, sustainability disclosures, global statutory reporting, and living will processes, reflecting both the depth and breadth of its integration into the bank’s reporting ecosystem. Additionally, Wdesk is integrated into broader enterprise data and compliance systems, including ingestion and retention processes for regulated communications (of which we might be the first to utilize Wdesk for this effort), further expanding its relevance beyond reporting into governance, surveillance, and auditability functions.
0One of our biggest breakthroughs with Workiva has been using it to support our operational transfer pricing calculations. By leveraging connected data, standardized workflows, and automation, we've been able to manage a complex global process with a relatively small team while improving consistency and scalability.
I'm excited to see Workiva continue expanding its AI and automation capabilities. I'd especially love to see more transfer pricing and tax-specific features that could help streamline areas such as TP documentation, tax provision, compliance, and other tax workstreams. There is significant potential to further transform how tax and finance teams operate.
0We are using Workiva for SEC reporting, SOX testing and Control Management. We have been experimenting with the AI functionality this year to enhance the RCM. Would love to learn about additional features available to us including the ability to link documents from our ERP to our Workiva platform and automating tasks throughout.
0We imported our Excel financial reporting packages into Workiva and connected our ERP to Wdata. The Chain we use to automatically update our financial statements and almost 20 reporting packages has saved us a lot of time and manual effort in our quarterly reporting process. We also link these packages directly to our 10-Q and 10-K workbook, so the risk of human error in the previous process of copying/pasting or hard-keying has been significantly reduced.
0By utilizing Workiva we able to build end to end procedure for Financial statements preparation, from drafting the first version to actual filing with statutory authorities, tracking status with processes. Such improvement allowed us to eliminate unnecessary email exchange, where usually multiple parties are involved and miscommunication can happen. Now we have one true source, where not only internal parties, but also client, auditors can actually come and have their input on real time basis.
Also worth to mention that Workiva not only helped us with collaboration aspect, but also was initiator of other good practice such as standardization of internal procedures outside Workiva - we were able to identify how different teams could apply different approaches for the same product. That allowed us to put one standard way of doing and aligned teams across different departments - in this respect more automations and efficiencies could be applied!
0Workiva has enable us to take ownership of the format and printing of our ACFR. Also the links have been a fantastic upgrade, where data changes cascade throughout the document.
The History feature for cells helps to track when and where changes have occurred, enhancing accuracy.
Wdata has given us the ability to prepare financial reports from our ERP system, which being a new implementation was missing the financial reporting module. So Workiva/Wdata has been a great addition to our software portfolio.
As a team we still have a lot to learn to use Workiva to its full potential.
0We are able to paste our financial data straight into our Workiva spreadsheets and utilize our template as our "one source of truth" for public financial information. Each period, we simply roll forward the project and update as necessary - all links carry over seamlessly!
0Workiva has led to major improvements in how our financials were being collected, aggregated and reported with more of our internal teams slowly adopting the solution. We are a pretty large financial organization characterized by teams working in silos and manual report preparation activities by certain key individuals which often caused employee burnout during quarter ends, also posing risks from overdependency. With the universal push towards a common platform for our regulatory reporting needs across geographies, the same datasets are incrementally being used across teams and regions for organizational and region-specific filings, leading to improved reconciliation and real time collaboration and sharing. The report certification and review process has also been streamlined using Workiva's out of the box capabilities for review and approvals, further reducing report preparation and review times from weeks to days. Manual intervention in the report preparation process is much lower than it used to be and projected to improve even further as more and more data sources are integrated with the platform.
0For financial reporting, we merged our Workiva 10-K and 10-Q documents into an Evergreen-style format, which makes our quarterly and annual roll-forward process much more efficient. We also have one workbook for both 10-K and 10-Q, therefore there's only one file we need to refresh every quarter. We sync that data into Workiva, and BOOM!, our roll-forward is done!
1When I joined the company about a year ago, Workiva was already an established tool with an existing license and was being used to support Corporate Responsibility reporting. While I was not new to the Corporate Responsibility reporting process, I quickly recognized the value Workiva offered as a centralized platform for collecting, organizing, and managing data across multiple stakeholders. It provided a strong foundation for collaboration, transparency, and report development.
This year, I took our use of Workiva to the next level by creating a more formalized data collection process. I introduced a structured kickoff meeting with data providers at the start of the reporting cycle to align on expectations, timelines, and reporting requirements. Throughout the year, I also established regular touchpoints with contributors to answer questions, monitor progress, and address potential challenges early. This approach has strengthened engagement with data providers, improved accountability, and helped ensure more complete and accurate data submissions.
One of the most valuable features of Workiva has been its document attachment functionality. By housing source documentation directly alongside reported metrics, we can create a clearer audit trail and make the assurance process more efficient. In addition, these attachments serve as a valuable historical reference, allowing teams to easily understand how metrics were calculated and reported in prior years. This helps promote consistency in reporting methodologies and supports knowledge retention across reporting cycles.
Looking ahead, we are excited about the opportunities Workiva’s AI capabilities may bring to our reporting process. Once these tools are approved by our risk team, we anticipate they could help improve efficiency, streamline content development, support data validation efforts, and enable deeper insights from our reporting data. As our Corporate Responsibility reporting continues to evolve, Workiva remains an important tool for enhancing data quality, strengthening collaboration, and supporting a more efficient and transparent reporting process.
1We have been using Wdesk for many years. Each year we learn about more tools available and implement them as we can. This year, we began using Workiva's AI tools.
0What excites me most about Workiva is seeing reporting evolve from disconnected files into connected, collaborative processes. Recently, I’ve been focusing on multi-workspace data sharing and automation to help teams spend less time maintaining data and more time generating insights and value.
0Workiva has significantly improved our team’s ability to integrate, validate, and operationalize data by enabling smooth flow from platforms like Dremio into reporting workflows.
It has also enhanced collaboration by allowing us to share chains, duplicate processes, and provide targeted access to stakeholders without impacting production environments.
Additionally, Workiva has streamlined report development and slide creation, supporting centralized and consistent output for executive reporting.0In a prior role, I was astounded when I saw the time savings in our SEC reporting process going from multiple excel ad-hocs to a single WData Chain from our Oracle ERP. Running a chain and our financials updating in a matter of minutes was a game changer!
0We have been able to take all of our property and fund data and import it into Workiva. This has allowed us to create multiple layers of reporting and with the refresh of a button we are able to bring in updated information. This allows us to easily provide reports, projections, and updates with confidence. Workiva is more than just a tool in which to work with your data. It is a key hub from which your data comes to life. I could not imagine my life without it.
0We use Wdesk for so many things! With people working from various locations, it is great to be able to all see the most recent version of a document or spreadsheet.
Our Section 16 Insider filings have become so much easier with the integration between Workiva and Edgar NEXT in terms of storing and using filing tokens.
Our latest innovation is maintaining user manuals in Workiva vs. word documents for better version control, approval, and multiple user input.
0We've created User Centric Audit Dashboards that allow members of the team to have a holistic view of their assigned tasks based on assignments made within the Audit Form.
0Utilizing Workiva has allowed us to use one platform and build a cross-functional collaboration for all our deliverables. This has helped streamline and ensure consistency for both internal and external items including earnings materials.
