CSRD Reporting Process in Workiva
Hello everyone,
We are currently in the process of configuring a CSRD report in Workiva and would appreciate insights from other organizations or practitioners who have already gone through this exercise.
We are particularly interested in understanding the typical approaches followed by companies in the following areas:
-
Granularity of qualitative metrics configuration
At what level of granularity do companies usually configure qualitative ESRS datapoints within the ESG Program? For example, are qualitative disclosures configured at the individual datapoint level, topic level, or grouped more broadly? -
Approach for qualitative data collection
What approach do companies typically use for collecting narrative disclosures?-
Directly editing narratives within the Word document/report in Workiva, or
-
Collecting narratives through structured data collection spreadsheets and linking them to the CSRD document via Factbook (which makes the document largely non-editable)?
-
-
Report review and approval workflow
Do companies typically manage the full report review and approval workflow within Workiva (e.g., Communications, Legal, Functional VPs, Sustainability leadership)?
Or is it more common to manage part of the approval process outside the platform due to multiple review layers? -
Examples or best practices for CSRD report configuration
If possible, it would be extremely helpful to hear how other companies have structured their CSRD reports in Workiva—particularly around narrative management, data linkage, and governance workflows.
Additionally, are there any Workiva community sessions, roundtables, or resources that provide examples of CSRD configurations that companies have adopted?
Any insights or examples would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
