Deleted comments

Deleting comments from the live document does not automatically delete them in the Review file where they were originally placed. Comments in a Review file are independent of the live document, depending on the settings chosen when the Review was created. If the option to exclude comments from the live file was selected during the Review creation, those comments will not appear in the live document and remain only in the Review file. Additionally, once comments are deleted, they cannot be restored

okay, so If we linked the comments from the review file to the live file but deleted them in the live file...they should still be in the review file?

I tested this to make sure I followed the flow correctly.
If the "Include all comment threads" is chosen, then the comments in the live file appear in the review and if you deleted them in the live file, they DO delete from the review.
If the review setting for "Exclude comments added to the reviews from the live version of the file" is chosen, then the comments made in the review never appear in the live file so are independent.
If that setting is unchecked, then the comments do flow through and deleting them in either place (review or live file) deletes them from both places.
Based on your scenario, if the linked comment in the review file that flowed into the live file was deleted, it would NOT show up in the review any longer.
