Using Multiple Workiva Connectors
In order to share data across Workspaces using Chains, you will need to have multiple Workiva Connectors. Workiva Connectors are designed to restrict access by Workspace, so you will need to create a Workiva Connector for each Workspace in which you are needing to store data, run queries, refresh connections, etc. using chains.
The first step is to create an API Grant that will be used for the Workiva Connector. You will need to create an API grant for each Workspace. Next, you will need to create the Workiva Connector itself. The connector will be created in the Workspace in which all of your integrations and chains are being developed and tested, but will use the information from the API grant that was generated for the destination Workspace.
When creating your Workiva Connectors, it’s important to keep them organized. To do this, you will want to give your Connectors specific names and descriptions that call out which Workspace the Connector is enabled for.
Last but not least, you will input the Client ID and Client Secret generated from the API grant. Be careful when copying and pasting Client IDs and Secrets as this is important information that you will not want to mix up between Workspaces.
Then, when you’re building your chains, you will select the Workiva Connector that corresponds to the Workspace in which you are automating processes for. When the chain runs, the processes will happen in the destination Workspace, even if the chain was built in a different Workspace.
Happy Connecting!
