Alt tags in tables
답변함Hello - we've been adding alt tags for accessibility to our documents in Workiva. But we find that if we add the al tag to the table properties or object properties for objects embedded into a table, they do not export to the PDF - while alt tags on graphics and images that are not embedded in a table, do export. Anyone else having the same issue? And tips to fix please? Thanks.

This is the correct and supported location."Alternative text can be applied to images, charts and tables to give context to these objects for screen readers. Using the Object properties panel in Workiva, alternative text may be entered for these objects or they can be marked as decorative."
Table Properties in Workiva is used to define how many rows are tagged as table headers for accessibility purposes. It is not where alt text is entered. More complex table structures may need additional review after PDF export.
Why Alt Text May Not Consistently AppearThe intermittent behavior (sometimes showing, sometimes not) is a known pain point. Key things to check:- Verify the correct panel is being used: Alt text must be entered via Object Properties, not Table Properties.
- Export settings: The "Tag for Web Accessibility" checkbox must be selected during PDF export for alt text to be included. Tags are only generated at the point of PDF creation.
- Object type differences: There have been reports of alt text working inconsistently between object types (e.g., pie charts vs. bar charts). This has been flagged as a SUPP ticket issue.
- Re-check after saves: Some users have encountered inconsistency that may require refreshing or re-opening the properties panel.
