Wanted to let you know that Tasking has now been released for all next gen types, including Presentations and Spreadsheets. You can find Tasks in the right-hand panel of next gen, like so:

You are correct, currently Task are not yet enabled for Spreadsheets. Our Product Team is working on adding those in and we anticipate those being available sometime this year. As a workaround, if you are still using classic Documents, you could link to the classic Document and have a Task located there. And as you point out, a directed comment may also work too.
