copying a document with its incoming connections using Platform API

will it be possible to make a copy of document file with its incoming connection using Platform API ? has somebody explored this idea before and can share the approach ?
in the documentation I can't see any request that makes a copy of the document !
I am working on the roll forward activity and going through each document and make a copy it's time consuming I am thinking to build and automation that will make job easier for me.
I appreciate any help or smart suggestions.

Unfortunately we do not have any alternatives currently and this feature remains proposed with our product team.
It has not been picked up for work but I have created a ticket for you so you can receive updates and so our team know we have another vote for this.

My apologies I did not see your edit to your original post!
However, I just reached out to our experts and unfortunately there is currently no way to create/add links through the Public API.
