XBRL Training
Will Workiva be bringing back in-person or virtual XBRL Training. When my old employer had to start doing XBRL, my team went (and paid for) about a week long in person course that went into everything XBRL and how to use Workiva for tagging. Now I only see 5-10 minute video's that don't appear to begin to cover everything that was covered in the previous courses. I am a little rusty since I haven't done tagging in a few years and will re-watch the videos, but it does not seem like a person who is totally new to XBRL would learn enough from the video's to efficiently update XBRL in Workiva. Workiva is supposed to be a self-sufficient platform and by not providing this type of training it doesn't feel self-sufficient.

Hey Erin Florczak, I would recommend starting with our Using XBRL learning path which provides approximately 2 hours of training on using XBRL in Workiva. While it does not go as in depth as 3 days of training, it does touch on all of the same topics.
We are always looking at new ways to provide XBRL training and have just launched our first training template on the Marketplace! XBRL Calculation Relationships (US GAAP) builds on our eLearning and helps you practice building your own calculation relationships and checking them against a taxonomy. The exercise takes between 10-25 minutes, depending on level of experience.

I second this. I attended in person training and the knowledge gained from working in a "live" environment with actual data helped me immensely once I returned. Our filings have been the cleanest ever, and troubleshooting the errors takes about 1/3 the time it did before the in-person training. Now I have another team member ready to take on the XBRL tasks, and while I'm sure I can provide enough instruction to get us through, I would really like her to get an in depth course from the experts.

Terence Chandler I'm glad you learned so much from those events! We updated all of our XBRL courses last year to add more context to them. Within the Using XBRL learning path XBRL Validation Messages covers more than three of the most common validation messages that people encounter in a filing. I'd be curious to hear what your team member thinks of the Using XBRL learning path after she takes it.

We just launched a training template on the Marketplace for XBRL Validation Messages (US GAAP) that gives you the opportunity to practice resolving XBRL validation messages outside of your reports. I thought I'd share it here in case anyone was interested.
