How to use TEXTJOIN
TEXTJOIN is a newly supported formula which allows you join text strings in different cells together. CHILDREFS can be used with TEXTJOIN to join text from cells across all child sheets.
In this example, the TEXTJOIN formula “=TEXTJOIN(", ",TRUE,(CHILDREFS(B5)))”, is equipped with the CHILDREFS function to aggregate text inputs across the child sheets of “NII Summary”.
- A custom delimiter of “, “ is supplied as an input to the formula.
- TEXTJOIN adds this delimiter between each text reference being joined.
- TRUE is provided as the second input for the TEXTJOIN formula, which instructs the formula to ignore empty cells.
- Alternatively, FALSE would include empty cells in the formula result.
- Instead of explicit cell references, the final input to the TEXTJOIN function includes CHILDREFS(B5), telling the formula to aggregate cell B5 from each child sheet.
