Possibilities for connecting with Wdata
回答済みThe client we are working with does not allow external connections to access their corporate environment. To comply with this restriction, we need a solution that enables data to be sent directly to Workiva, without requiring the platform itself to connect to the client’s infrastructure.
With that in mind, we would like to know if Workiva offers any functionality that allows for secure data reception, such as:
-
Secure links for file uploads, or
-
Dedicated directories where the client can send data directly.
Our goal is to ensure that data can be uploaded to Workiva while respecting the company’s security policies.
It’s also worth mentioning that the client uses a tool called MFT (Managed File Transfer), which replaced SFTP as it was previously used as an "entry point" for hacker attacks.

HI Raul!
It is suggested you try using middleware to push to Workiva through Workiva's APIs. More info is found here: https://developers.workiva.com/
0Hi Raul Macedo,
As Mike suggested above, the Workiva APIs can be used to push data to Workiva. If you'd prefer using Chains, a GroundRunner could be used instead of CloudRunner to initiate outbound communication with Workiva.
If SFTP was an option, though it sounds like it might not be, you could load the data on an SFTP server and allow Chains to connect to it.
Additionally, you may also want to explore their MFT solution and it's capabilities. If it supports external connections, Chains might be able to integrate with it. Alternatively, if their MFT solution includes automated workflow capabilities, it may be able to push data to Workiva via the Workiva APIs.
Hopefully these suggestions give you some ideas on potential paths forward.
